Google Penalties: Staying In Control !!!
Category : Web
The title of this passage quite rightly sums what internet marketers have to follow like gospel truth. In keeping pace with competition some internet marketing professionals lose sight of the fact that they have to be in control and follow the unspoken rules that Google and other search engines have laid down in order to organize the world’s information.
They often resort to short cuts and irresponsible marketing techniques in order to get high ranks on search engines for certain specific keywords. In fact, most of these black hat seo operators are actually fly by night operators who just want to rip off clients by showing them quick results in double quick time without taking a long term view of the
Well Google has tweaked its algorithm to take care of such operators and only those websites with original links and genuine links pointing towards them are offered high ranks. The change came from 2007 when Google first introduced the PageRank algorithm and thereafter many updates (nearly 500-600 times in a calendar year) have happened to its ranking algorithm. Save yourself from the Shock!
If you are a webmaster or a business owner, there is nothing more shocking than typing the words of your website into the search box and not having to see your website appear on search results.
Most penalties that are imposed by Google are not announced by it and as a webmaster you may be scratching your head as to what happened for why it happened. Very rarely would a website administrator find a message in the webmaster tools section by Google informing him of the misdemeanor.
- Blacklisting of the website
- Throwing the website in a sandbox till the domain expires
- Duplicate Content being identified by Google bots.
- Any other black hat tactic that is identified by Google.
To be on the safe side, it’s always better to go through Google’s webmaster guidelines in order to have a clear cut idea of what Google wants. The Google Search Quality team has outlined a few methods by which you can take control of unnatural links pointing to your site and how to deal with links that you find impossible to remove or control.
The rules and penalties that have been outlined above are for your own benefit only and you must remember that the web is a universe in itself and it has its own rules and regulations. Search Engines like Google are the gatekeepers of this ever growing universe as they classify information and render it on the screens of the users based on the keywords typed in the omnibox.
So, whether you are a web developer or a web marketer, the important thing to remember is that you have to be a responsible netizen as that will ensure that the whole community benefits by having organized and easily accessible information on every topic under the sun for one and all.
